Yumi’s Pam Underwood models for Breast Cancer Care

Set a date in your diary as on Thursday 28th September, Yumi’s own Pam Underwood will be walking the runway to raise money for Breast Cancer Care

Pam and a group of breast cancer survivors will take part in the annual fashion show, raising money for those effected by the disease. The money raised will allow hardworking nurses and counsellors to support patients and their families from diagnoses to recovery.

Celebrating its 25 year anniversary, Breast Cancer Care aims to raise £400,000 from this event. It aims to inspire the fabulous models to rediscover their confidence. Hosted at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, Pam and 30 other models will be treated by a team of make-up artists and hair stylists. The outfits have been styled by Hilary Alexander OBE – a stylist fashion journalist and director.

When asked about the event, Pam said  “I am so excited to be one of the models. I applied twice before, so third time lucky for me. I know my loved ones are proud of me!’”

Our HR manager Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2013, shortly after her birthday and states “After surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I struggled to return to normal. But with the help of my friends, family and Breast Cancer Care, I managed to put my life back together.”

Often seen walking around Yumi HQ in bright colours and printed dresses, stylish Pam said “I’m so excited to take part in the show and I can’t wait to step onto the catwalk in front of my friends and family. It’ll show everyone that a breast cancer diagnosis won’t stop me feeling dressed in positivity.”

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK. 1 in 8 women and 1 in 870 men are diagnosed within their lifetime.
