Tea Break Tuesday: The 2014 Met Gala

It’s one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year and last’s Met Ball did not disappoint. Old-school glamour was back on the red carpet with ‘White Tie Decorations’ as the theme for the celebration dedicated to couturier Charles James. With an array of tones and shapes on display, this year proved to be a elegant night not to forget! Above young Hollywood stars Hailee Steinfeld and Anna Kendrick led the way in one of the biggest trends of the evening, Monochrome. Hailee in Prabal Gurung and Anna in J.Mendel.

Always one to make an entrance at the Met Ball, Sarah Jessica Parker wore black and white Oscar de la Renta dress and long white gloves. Actress Charlize Theron looked super chic in Dior Couture.

Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie opted for be-jeweled Prada dress, Chloe Moretz wore fun frill detail Chanel Couture and Naomi Watts made a change from her usual style in fading white to black Givenchy Couture gown.

Both Zoe Saldana and Jessica Pare attended the event in Michael Kors with Zoe in a halter neck dress featuring a sculpted taffeta skirt and Jessica in black and white strapless gown with sequin detail.

Moving away from monochrome and into classic black, Beyonce wore heavily beaded Givenchy Couture with veiled headpiece, model Georgia May Jagger was daring in low-cut and high split and Gisele Bundchan opted for a super sexy floor length sheer detail dress.

Glee star Dianna Agron sparkled in Miu Miu, Girls creator Lena Dunham stood out in feminine floral Giambattista Valli Couture and Kirsten Dunst was elegant in Rodarte.

Actress Amy Adams stunned in floor length silver Oscar de la Renta and Nashville star Hayden Panettier beamed as she walked the red carpet in Dennis Basso.

Keeping things glamourous, Park’s and Recreation star Rashida Jones wore purple and blue Tory Burch dress and Claire Danes stunned in Oscar de la Renta black and pink gown.

Going for gold! Lea Michelle shone in Altuzarra, Leighton Meester wore Emilio Puccie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley showed of her pins in Balmain and Kristen Stewart stood out from the crowd in Chanel Couture.

Looking super glam on the red carpet, Karlie Kloss wore a gold baroque gown and actress Kate Mara went with Valentino Couture.

Reality star turned designer Nicole Richie shone in silver Donna Karan Atelier and Lily Allen opts for a more sophisticated style than usual in grey and pink Chanel Couture dress.

Pale blue perfection: Elizabeth Olsen went for a short embellished Miu Miu dress, Alexa Chung looked super stylish in Nina Ricci, Diane Kruger was elegant in shimmering floor length gown and Bee Shaffer went ultra glam in Alexander McQueen.

Pretty in Pink: Rachel McAdams went for a simple understated style in Ralph Lauren, Taylor Swift brought a touch of old Hollywood glamour in Oscar de la Renta and Kate Bosworth was super chic in Stella McCartney.

Both in midnight blue, model Karolina Kurkova wore a beautiful floral Marchesa gown and Kim Kardashian opted for a more sultry style with high split.

The winner of our best dressed has to go to the ever beautiful Blake Lively who wore a nude Gucci Premiere floor length gown with shimmering detail and long train. Model Suki Waterhouse wore layered princess style Burberry dress also in a nude tone.

Dita Von Teese always knows how to accentuate her best assets and this cream and red Zac Posen dress was the perfect choice. Jessica Alba was lovely in lace Diane Von Furstenberg and model Kendall Jenner was sophisticated in Topshop.

Adding a pop of colour to the red carpet, Reese Witherspoon looked super glam in Stella McCartney and Emma Stone went for a more casual style in a two tone two piece from Thakoon.
